The newspaper is a no till method, that requires hardly any work, just cover with earth, compost, straw, etc. It makes a kill zone just dig a hole through to plant transplants. Very easy!
For egg sheels just throw them in the compost and the worms will eat them up

I wouldn’t use newspaper. The ink may or may not be manufactured from vegetable-based inks, but checmicals are used in processing the paper. A bale of straw costs only 4 bucks and goes a long way. Also grass clippings as well as leaves are far better……….and free!
